Asbestos Awareness Training Courses

We offer both UKATA and in house awareness training courses. These courses can be run at our training centre or on your site any where in the UK. Novice and experienced operators will undergo a 1-day training course.

Who is it for?
Our UKATA Asbestos Awareness training is mandatory for those who will or may come into contact with asbestos as part of their daily working activity such as: general maintenance staff, electricians, gas fitters, plasterers and many more.

Aims:
This UKATA Certified course will raise the awareness of individuals to the potential dangers of asbestos exposure and individuals whose responsibilities include the management of asbestos in their buildings.

By the end of the course delegates should be able to:
  • Discuss the origins of Asbestos and where it is found.
  • Outline the health hazards caused by asbestos and its routes of entry into the body.
  • Identify the locations/products where asbestos containing materials are likely to be found.
  • Outline the basic occupiers' duties in relation to asbestos.

Manual Handling Training Courses

Aims of the Manual Handling Training:
To ensure that the manual handling operations are carried out correctly and safely to minimise injury in your organisation.
  • This is a ½-day training course for the experienced and novice operator.

Manual Handling Training course content:
  • Identifies the factors involved in the assessment and how to put control measures in place which are associated with the risks when manual handling.
  • Explains how to undertake assess the task, and determine whether manual handling can be avoided through the use of mechanical means.
  • Enables the candidate to identify and put control measures in place to minimise and control risk.
Theory test:
The theory test is based on multiple choice questions of the training material that have been covered. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%.

Safe Working at Heights Training Courses

This is applicable for anyone who works or will be working at heights. Novice and experienced operators will undergo a 1-day training course, this can be either at your site across the UK or at our training centres. 

Safe Working at Heights Training course content:
  • Be aware of accidents that happen while working at heights.
  • Relate the general requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 to their own work activities.
  • Gain a greater understanding of regulations and guidance relating to working at heights.

Confined Spaces Training Courses

Available training courses:
  • Low risk 1-day training course - a low risk confined space exists when there is easy entry / exit, no risk of flooding and adequate natural ventilation. For full course content click here.
  • Medium Risk 2-day training course - a medium risk confined space exists where there are access issues, an expectation of a specified risk and escape breathing apparatus must be taken in. For full course content click here.

Deep Excavation & Trench Support Training Courses

Who needs to attend this course?
This is applicable for anyone who works or will be working in poor ground conditions and deep excavations. Candidates will undergo a 2-day training course, this can be either at your site across the UK or at one of our training centres in Nottingham or Chesterfield.

Aim of this course:
To enable staff to carry out work in trenches and deep excavations safely, install and remove trench support and backfill trenches safely in accordance with current legislation.

By the end of the course delegates will:
